Thirteen to go

It's hard to imagine that days which stretch on from end to end,
empty to fill with every whim, are going to turn too busy to stop and think.

It's hard to consider that your two am calls aren't going to be at two on both ends;
that's how far you're going and I don't know how to make it real yet.

It's hard to squash the six year old inside, on the first day of first grade wondering if there are
any friends to be made.

It's hard to trace map routes for the shortest route to go.
Go shopping for clothes now that uniforms are a no.
Get my hair cut, first impressions are necessary.
Don't blow clothes money on books, even the new one by Harper Lee.
Give up on daily episodes of doctor who.
Fit in my swimming with my new schedule.

It's hard to change, especially after months of being in limbo.
But the hardest part
Is to wait for this to start.
